Let's Talk About Our Day

 Dear Liliyah:

You are now 15 years old!  The other day I was thinking back to when you were little and I would visit you, or you would visit me.  We would just go, go, go, and do fun stuff all day long.  Sometimes we were on Conesus Lake; sometimes you were at my house at 55 Bradford Road; or sometimes I would be at your house in Portland, Oregon or the first house you were in on Moher Blvd. in Tennessee.

I LOVED tucking you in bed.  When you were so little that you couldn't talk very well yet, I would tuck you in bed and just look at you and talk to you.  I would start out by saying, "Let's talk about our day!"  Then I would go over everything we did that day.  You would just look up at me and smile; and I really think you did understand me!

Then, one day when you were about 3 years old, I tucked you in bed and you looked at me and said, "Let's talk about our day!" I laughed so hard!  You remembered!  So we talked about everything we did.

From that day forward, whenever I tucked you into bed, you would say, "Let's talk about our day!"; and we would discuss every single thing that we did, starting from the time we woke up until we were there with you in bed and me tucking you in.  You would not go to sleep until we talked about every single thing we did.  AND, sometimes you would think of something else that we forgot, and call me back into your room to tell me about it! (that might have been a little trick).

Now you are all grown up (well, maybe not all grown up....a feisty teenager), and we are still doing special things together. Now, when we travel together and come back to our room, we crawl into our beds and still talk about everything we did, and laugh, and plan for the next day.....and then we both crash until morning.

Our Hawaii trip is coming up!  I can't wait to TALK ABOUT OUR DAYS!

Love....Nana
